Our Christmas

On Christmas Eve Day, Auggie kept an eye out for Santa and the reindeer…

Despite his vigilance, there was no sighting.

Meanwhile, I made a Meyer Lemon Danish for my Christmas breakfast.

We had a wonderful snowfall on Monday night. Tuesday, I overdid the snow clearing and snow shoeing and paid for it! I spent a good part of Christmas Eve Day recuperating.

Neighbors Mel and Jesse invited me to stay at their home if I needed extra care – so thoughtful, but I stayed at my own home snugged up with Bear and Auggie watching a PBS mystery series. Neighbors Mike and Nancy checked on me and brought a beautiful Christmas bouquet AND as it had snowed another 6 inches, Mike said he would clear my drive with the backhoe. I have great neighbors!

Christmas morning, I felt 100% and enjoyed my Danish with the gift bouquet on the table.

After a lazy morning, we all headed out – me on snowshoes, although I took it VERY easy :) !!

My best attempt at a Christmas family photo was pretty much a fail all around … neither Bear nor Auggie wanted to participate and I didn’t get my smile on in time for the timed photo. Maybe next year!

But, we enjoyed the snow and being outside.

The chairs might be a little grumpy.

I reminded them that it is not as bad as last year!

A star, a star, dancing in the night…
… He will bring us Goodness and Light!

A Blessed and Merry Christmas to all from Bear, Auggie and Me!

Do you hear what I hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
Do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
Do you know what I know
In your palace wall, mighty king,
Do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere,
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people everywhere!
Listen to what I say
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

A bit of sun

The week is nearly over.

This, that and the other: I was not quite 100%, the Windows 10 update updated, some other electronic stuff and here we are almost Friday.

I’m feeling better, the Win 10 update went fine, but there are always minor adjustments to be made after – this was the big update vs patches.

The week continued gray and cold and gloomy until this morning…

A bit of sun!

Holiday Weekend

The four day weekend whizzed by and here we are at Sunday evening before “back to work” Monday morning…

Snow. My “Let it snow” did not come to fruition. That snowflake is maybe 1/4 the size of my fingernail … on my little finger. It is perfect and beautiful and tiny. The snowflake is on Bear – he stood patiently as asked while I got the camera and took some photos. There were light – VERY light – flurries off and on and I happened to notice several perfect flakes that were supported on Bear’s outer coat.

The cloud deck is low and solid: inversion. Under the deck it is staying nearly a constant 18-20F and the relative humidity is high making it feel very cold.

But inside with a fire in the woodstove and things in the oven and on the stove, it has been warm and cozy.

Sourdough English muffin.

Nooks. Crannies. I’ll go toe to toe with Thomas’ English muffins!

Another kind of cozy – mornings with Auggie.

Holiday Weekend.

Let it snow

As early as Sunday evening, a Winter storm was forecast: wind, snow and blowing snow.

Pretty much on time, it started snowing and blowing.

I was grateful to be home working as it started warm with a cold rain which quickly froze and then the snow and wind. There was a lot of slipping and sliding around the valley, including an accident nearly at the end of my driveway. There is a curve and one or more did not negotiate it and collided. Heads were bumped, but all released. It did take forever to get tow trucks for the vehicles because of other accidents.

Ultimately, the snow fall was on the light end: 3 inches in town and less than a half inch at my house.

Today, Thanksgiving Day, dawned clear and very cold at 8F.

It was a good day to have the oven and the woodstove going.

A beautiful, beautiful day that included walks in the woods, time on Beardog Point…

and time in front of the fire.

Now – Let it snow!
