Is it Wednesday already?

I remember saying last year that the color was the most vibrant and long lasting of all my memory of Fall in Montana. And now this year, I’m saying that I’ve never seen color so vibrant and long lasting…even more so than last year – whatever, it continues to be a glorious Fall in Montana.

The weather forecast for the weekend is for cold and snow. This morning, despite the warm glow of the sun on the larch, it was cold enough that I dug out a heavier jacket and as I shuffled through the woods with Bear was glad I had a hot cup of coffee in my hands and made a mental note to dig out gloves and hats toute suite!

Did you know that Beardogs point?

This is not a mid-step capture. Bear is standing “on point”, although admittedly when you have a curly tail, it has a bit different look :) …

Happy Wednesday from all of us!

First Fall Alpenglo

Another beautiful Fall day and enough clouds in the right places for the first rosy alpenglo of Fall. I was out with Bear when it started and it can be fleeting so did not go back for my camera. Above is from the phone camera. A little soft but the color is true.

**Bear and Bob notes:
As the days get shorter and the nights longer, we are all adjusting. Sunset is 6:20 p.m. and Sunrise 8:20 a.m..

Although Bear settled down for bedtime during the summer when bedtime was often still in daylight, now that there is more dark, he sometimes stays with me in the office or kitchen, but more often than not, goes to bed when we come in at sunset. He will go out for a before bedtime outing if I show him his lighted collar but does not ask to go out and I sometimes have to wake him :)! In the morning, he will wag his tail and give me kisses…from his bed, but unless I coax he is happy to stay in until it gets light…so I let him! Bob has his quick outing for morning business, breakfast and then he goes back to bed as well. I get a couple of hours to have a bit of quiet time, cook or bake and work a bit before a morning break outside with Bear. Not a bad routine. We’ll see what happens when we get snow on the ground!

Short trip

Although Bear and I did not take the planned weekend cruise, we did go for a Sunday afternoon ride. A stop at the hardware for propane and then to Wayfarer’s for a walk.

Bear loves to go anywhere but the motorhome is very exciting…the big windows, the room…even a short trip is a grand adventure!

Shades of Fall in Montana

It was a week of long work days to meet a Friday noon work deadline. I woke Friday not feeling 100% and decided then and there that this was not the weekend for Bear and my short road trip. As it turned out, the Bob/House sitter and friends we were going to visit were not 100% either so all worked out for the best and we’ll try for next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Fall light and weather remains perfect: cool, crisp, crystal clear air. The color continues with the larch joining the fun.

These are the kind of days I find it hard to stay inside.

So I didn’t!

I was outside with Bear or thinking up things to check on the motorhome.

And sometimes just walking through the woods looking at the sun on the larch.

Meanwhile…the rest of the party was enjoying the beautiful day from a comfy spot inside…

Shades of Fall in Montana.

Ready to go.

After a noon walk around our home loop, Bear was in the woods keeping an eye on a chittering squirrel when I started the motorhome to let it run for a bit.

Bear heard the engine start and ran to get aboard.

I’m planning a very short and very close to home shakedown this weekend before a longer trip in a few weeks. Something drained my brand new (in April) battery with no definitive cause. Bear has just a few day trips and the one overnight when I picked him up, for rv experience. A new Bob/house-sitter has been employed. Sara moved to Utah :( …but we all LOVE Hailley :)!! So, a short trial run for all to make sure everything is in order.

Bear is ready to go!
