Sunday Morning
Friday, a cold front whooshed through and temperatures returned to normal 70’s, dipping into the 40’s overnight – bliss!!
But mornings are still prime time and especially Sunday morning…
A gorgeous walk in the woods.
A cool, clear morning.
Buckwheat waffles with blueberry syrup, bacon and a cup of coffee.
Sunday Morning
Morning is prime time in my world
Monday we broke a record, heat-wise – the 1948 record of 89 fell to our high of 94. Tuesday we tied a 95F record from 1918.
But mornings are beautiful and cool.
This morning at 6:30 walking in the woods…
57F – wonderful!
Even though it was 95 yesterday (Tuesday), it cooled faster than Monday night and today we only hit 87F – still hot in my book but much more comfortable.
Still hot in Auggie’s book also and he was in and stretched out in the cool sunroom before noon.
Bear stuck even closer to the A/C and was in much earlier.
Mornings are definitely prime time in my world!
And the heat goes on
And it kept going…topping off at 94F! Even now, at 7:00 p.m., it is still 89.
It is supposed to cool into the 70’s by the coming weekend and as this kind of heat is unusual this early, I originally thought it would be fine for these few hot days without the A/C.
Thankfully, I changed my mind this morning and got the behemoth ready to go. It has been keeping us comfortable and I will really appreciate it at bedtime, I know!
Bear went out a few times, but only briefly. Even Auggie came in early in the afternoon.
Meanwhile as the dinner hour approached, I rethought my original plan of oven roasted corn and asparagus.
The new plan was shaved asparagus salad…
…with white beans and a parmesan vinaigrette. I put all in the frig to chill along with some canned salmon.
A bit later, as I was mixing everything up, I noticed Auggie on the front sidewalk. His door was open, but I guess he decided the cool concrete sidewalk was the spot to be.
A cool, refreshing supper as the heat goes on.
Scenes from Thursday morning
So the skunk visitations continued and even at our “normal” going out time of 7:00 a.m., I kept a watchful eye. This morning I had my camera set to take some video so naturally, no skunk. But as I was waiting and watching, I caught my neighbor’s motion sensitive light go on so kind of wonder if Skunk took a slightly different route this morning.
At any rate, it was another clear and sunny morning: beautiful, but the moisture situation continues on the unusually dry side and NOAA says:
Northwest Montana, however, will likely remain drier than usual for this time of year with no significant systems on the horizon to make up for the recent precipitation deficit.
Rats!!
Still, nothing to do but enjoy what we have and so we did.
